Asia has embraced mobile phones and broadband services with an enthusiasm that perhaps no other region can match. A recent Accenture report concludes that Asia accounts for more than 25% of the world's total installed mobile base. Asian
mobile subscribers are expected to grow from 227 million in 2001 to beyond 366 million in 2004, with wireless Internet users accounting
for 141 million of the 2004 figures according to IDC. At the same type, the regional broadband market in Asia-Pacific will grow by almost 600 percent to reach US$15.9 billion by 2006, according to the analyst and consulting firm, Ovum. With so many wired and mobile
consumers in Asia, there are tremendous opportunities for distribution of digital entertainment. |
