o Survey: Video Games Becoming More a "Family" Activity

Dulles, Va. -- Video games have evolved in popularity to rival that of other family fun activities, according to a new survey by Dulles-based America Online. The survey found that about four out of five "gamers" ages 12-55 have played video games with their families, and that nearly half of all U.S. consumers have played an online, video or cell or PDA game. Though video games have traditionally been looked upon as a teenage pastime, the results showed strong penetration into adult demographics, with about 40% of adults saying they've played such games and about one in 10 admitting they've become addicted. The study was based on a nationwide telephone survey of more than 1,005 Americans between the ages of 12-55.
