MICHAEL KOETTER

Michael Koetter is the vice president of North American operations for BBC Technology, overseeing the technical implementation of BBC Technology’s products and services in the North American market. In particular, Koetter has focused on closing the gap between the worlds of Broadcast and IT, helping to position BBC Technology as a leader in the development of software-driven broadcast workflow and innovative multi-channel distribution. Further, he has helped to design and implement end-to-end workflow for integration of digital production systems, archive management, device control and broadcast automation systems.

Since BBC Technology's founding in 2001, Koetter has spearheaded groundbreaking projects in both the United States and United Kingdom, including BBC News 24's digital news production system. Koetter has overseen the development of innovative rich media solutions for the UK Government, BBC Production, BBC Worldwide and Hutchison 3G.

Prior to working for BBC Technology, Koetter served as the product manager for iXStream, iXL Inc.'s nascent streaming media offering, later moving to iXL's Digital Media Solutions Group, where he led the development of several groundbreaking rich media solutions as a senior systems architect.  Prior to iXL, Koetter worked as a freelance software engineer, video editor and broadcast engineer.

Koetter holds a Masters in Information Design and Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BA in Anthropology. He is active in a number of professional organizations, including the AAF Association and SMPTE.
